Malawi, “The Warm Heart of África”

In early 2019, Paulo and Íris went to join Afonso and Lara in Malawi, the country where she was born and lived until she was 10 years old.
Being the legendary hostess she is, Lara took them to many of the gems of this wonderful, unknown country. Thousands of kilometers were covered by jeep on an African road-trip between cities, villages and mountains, not to mention the majestic Lake Malawi.

One of these unique places in Malawi is called Dedza Pottery ( https://www.dedza-pottery.com/ ).

A traditional pottery located in the township of Dedza, that was a mandatory stop for little Lara on trips between Lilongwe and Blantyre.
There they had coffee, soaked up the atmosphere and surrounding nature, and stocked up on coffee and tea, but most importantly, Dedza pottery itself.

Back in Portugal, Paulo, in love with coffee, spent several months living off the Malawi stock, transforming his Dedza mug into his regular morning companion.

Fast forward to the end of 2020 and Lara, after many contacts, manages to surprise the Tigers just in time for the opening of Casa Tigre with a personalised mug made in Dedza for each one.

The Casa Tigre Mugs, with Bruno Pereira's Tiger head painted on them, led us to discover that, similarly to Lara's Grandfather, who immigrated early to Malawi, Bruno's Grandfather  - Lobo Apparel's raison d'être - was also working at in the country at one point.
Two grandfathers, carpenters by vocation, crossed the lands Afonso and Paulo would fall in love with many years earlier.

This is Casa Tigre, and this is what we are made of, sharing life and love as a family.
We now share with you the taste of a mug, handmade with clay that comes from the African soil 10,000 kms away.

Just a little warning that we have very few, and that, they are all unique and slightly different, as is everything that is truly beautiful.
